Teach me about Tumblr roleplays!

So getting back into the Torei RPG system, I've been looking at the various environments for playing the game.  There are a lot of forum sites that support erotic roleplay (elliquiy, f-list, etc), but they tend to be rather more walled off to the public than I'd like, and the technology tends to be crufty old BBcode-like systems.  I've tried chat play before, but again the technology is old and weird or hard to get to for everybody on all devices.

But there seems to be a large community of tumblr roleplayers that use the specific way tumblr works to their advantage.  Each character sets up a new tumblr blog (either under the player's main account, or in a new one to keep the dash feed separate).  You end up reblogging each other and occasionally trimming quoted matter to hold the conversation and play out the scene, which ends up preserving history rather well.

And tumblr supports NSFW blogs and RSS feeds and generally makes the whole endeavour more searchable and available.

In addition, it seems that posts get a difficult-to-predict integer ID, so for example planet-torei.tumblr.com/post/1… has the ID of 119509910314 which could be used to seed a random number generator for dice rolls, guaranteeing that everybody can verify a roll made by a given post.  I've been looking at maybe writing a tumblr API client to do this automatically as a sort of bot, or maybe a simple javascript page for determining from a post URL what the roll should be.

But historically it seems nobody plays with rules, preferring instead to treat it as a collaborative writing exercise (mainly for fanfiction).  Does anyone reading this have any experience with tumblr RP and how best to do it?  I've read through all of rpprotips.tumblr.com/archive looking for advice, and a lot of it seems to be geared toward people agreeing ahead of time how to play out a scene together, and then doing it.  Is there anything I should know about setting up the main RP aggregation tumblr?  Anyone have any better ideas?
